NDAlert
NDAlert is the University of Notre Dame's emergency notification system. NDAlert improves the University’s ability to effectively communicate with campus using phone, e-mail, text messaging and public announcements sent to indoor and outdoor speakers on campus. The NDAlert system can push out thousands of messages within minutes to help ensure the safety of everyone at Notre Dame during an emergency.
Emergency Situations
NDAlerts will only be sent in the event of a campus-wide emergency and for routine testing. The University conducts full tests of all the emergency alert systems at least once each semester, and cleary defines the alert as a test, usually by stating "THIS IS A TEST OF THE NDALERT SYSTEM"
Examples of emeregncy situations that may warrant an NDAlert include:
- Active violence / active attacker
- A tornado warning for St. Joseph County, Indiana
- A severe thunderstorm with wind greater than 75 miles per hour
- A major leak or spill of hazardous material(s)

If you receive an emergency message via campus-wide emergency notification system:
- Listen to or read the ENTIRE message.
- Immediately follow any instructions given in the message.
- Alert others around you who may not have received the message, but do not delay taking necessary actions to protect your own safety.
Enrollment
Notre Dame employees and students are automatically enrolled in NDAlert. However, it is the individual's responsibility to ensure their contact information is accurate and up to date.
Students:
At the beginning of each semester, you have the opportunity to update your contact information during ND Roll Call. In addition, throughout the semester you may contact the Registrar’s Office to update your contact information by emailing address.1@nd.edu.
Faculty & Staff:
- InsideND - Personal Information (New!)
- Scroll to the box containing “Emergency Contact”
- Cick “Add New”
- Type in your first name, last name, and phone number (preferably cellular) in the appropriate boxes.
- In the “Relationship” pull-down box, select “ND Alert Emergency - Self”.
- Click “Add
